Dr Tariq Drabu is the Clinical Lead for the dental CATS team. Tariq is a Manchester born and educated dentist. He is also one of the youngest dentists to graduate in the United Kingdom. He studied at Manchester University, graduating in 1986.
This well-known Manchester dentist Dr Tariq Drabu, then went on to work in hospital dentistry at various dental hospitals in the area, including Withington Hospital, Stafford District General Hospital and Manchester Dental Hospital. Dr Tariq Drabu always had an interest in oral surgery and worked part time in local hospitals in various clinical posts.
Dr Tariq Drabu then went on to work in Saudi Arabia at some of the largest hospitals in Riyadh and Taif from 1993. When he returned to the UK he achieved is Fellowship in Dental Surgery in Edinburgh from the Royal College of Surgeons. From here his specialty was oral surgery, which led to his purchase of Langley Dental Practice in 1998 and the establishment of the Dental CATS (Clinical Assessment and Treatment) Service at Langley Dental Practice in 2004. This service covers the Heywood Middleton and Rochdale areas and surrounding localities.
The service has now expanded to Market Place Dental Practice in Ramsbottom to manage patients referred from Bury and surrounding localities.
Dr Tariq Drabu is a strong believer in advancing your career through education, which led to his specialist in oral surgery accreditation from the General Dental Council in 1999 and his postgraduate diploma from the University of Manchester in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in 2008. During this time he also lectured at the Manchester Dental Hospital for nine years in oral surgery to postgraduate students. He has also taught on the postgraduate oral surgery program at the University of Central Lancashire. Over the years Dr Tariq Drabu has lectured and mentored and guided more than 1000 oral surgery dentists.
Dr Tariq Drabu is the Clinical Lead Dentist at NHS Middleton and Rochdale for the Oral Surgery CATS Services and Bury Minor Oral Surgery Service. This well-known Manchester dentists has also taught oral surgery in London at the Royal College of Surgeons and in 2007 he was a chosen finalist for the Trainer of the Year awards organised by the Dental Defence Union.
With a passion for learning and advancing his career, Dr Tariq Drabu went on to complete an Advanced Certificate in Facilitated Learning in Healthcare Practice from the University of Central Lancashire in 2010, a level 7 certificate for Executive Management at the Institute of Learning and Management in 2012 and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dental Law and Ethics from the University of Bedfordshire in 2017.
