Oral Surgery Treatment at the Dental CATS Service
Here at the Dental CATS Service we are a specialist oral surgery referral service. We have a specialist NHS contract to provide Minor Oral Surgery procedures to patients from all over the Rochdale borough and beyond. The type of surgical procedures that we provide includes wisdom teeth removal, the removal of fractured or retained roots, the removal of cysts of the jaws, soft tissue biopsies and dental apical surgery. These treatments are performed under local anaesthetic with or without intravenous sedation. Our specialist team is led by Dr Tariq Drabu who is registered with the General Dental Council (GDC) as a specialist in oral surgery. Tariq has over 30 years’ experience in dentistry and has been on the GDC specialist list in oral surgery since 1999.
Before we started providing this service on the Dental CATS Service, these types of procedures used to be provided only in hospitals. However, we have been providing these services for over 15 years resulting in better patient care. Firstly, care and treatment is provided closer to home in a friendly clinic type premises rather than a large impersonal hospital. Secondly, we managed to see and treat patients through the service within 4 to 6 weeks which is a much shorter waiting time than months in the hospital sector. Thirdly we are quicker and cheaper than the hospital sector which says the taxpayer money; this money can be put to good use in other sectors of the NHS.
Dr.Tariq Drabu is supported by his superb dental nursing team led by Practice Manager Sharon Partridge and Senior Receptionist Kristy Miller.
Over the past 10 years feedback from service users has been overwhelmingly positive. They have highlighted the friendly nature of Tariq and his team. There has also been praise for the rapid turnaround time between consultation and treatment. The premises where the CATS service operates from have also been singled out for their cleanliness and modern high-tech facilities.
